Editing Post #1
For our first round of editing, we decided to primarily edit our establishing shot of the police station. Most of us are relatively new to editing so we decided to start out with something more simple. We thought that a good way to ensure that everyone is included in the editing process and can learn a little about editing we decided to utilize a collaboration editing software called DaVinci Resolve. By using this software, we would all be able to collaborate and work on editing from our own computers. But before using this software Tyler had been utilizing iMovie, we were all fairly new to using it and we discovered that using DaVinci Resolve was easier for us since we could collaborate at the same time.
He first began editing the character's introduction scenes, mugshots, and the establishing shot. For our establishing shot, we knew we wanted it to look "cool" and captivate our audience since that will be the first thing they see. We began editing for over an hour. We helped him through FaceTime. Tyler was mainly focused on working on the transitions and editing of the sudden jump cuts between the mugshots and interrogations.
Despite this filming day not being a complete success, we were able to realize that iMovie was not the software for us and we found something more up to our speed. An issue that had come to our attention would be the editing process taking too much time, but I believe with practice we can start to work on editing more quickly and more efficiently.
