First Day of Shooting!

Our first day of shooting was a lot of fun! We began filming on February 26th. We decided to film our first scenes in a public library study room. Since we only had the room for about 2 hours we had to try to film our scenes as quickly as possible. We had a few things we knew we wanted to film first which were the interrogation and the group argument at the end of the film opening. Filming these scenes was very stressful, but also very funny. We all kept laughing at each other which made for some much-needed reshoots of our character's scenes. What was really difficult for us to do was figure out which angle we should use to get the best-looking shot. We decided to use a combination of medium and panning shots for our interrogation as well as aerial, low-angle, and over-the-shoulder shots for the group argument. We did not get enough time in the room to finish filming everything we planned. We are definitely going to need some reshoots of Jacob's interrogation because it was filmed first and our camera work was a bit shakey. We also need to reshoot the group argument because in every shot we attempted to take one of us would be cut out. So we plan to meet up again at the same place to film those. The sound in the room was surprisingly good. Since we did film in a library, we barely got any background sound into our video at all. We definitely thought filming there was the right way to go to avoid the excess sound. Also on this filming day, we wanted to narrow down which police station we would be using for our establishing shot. After much driving around, we chose the Pembroke Pines Police Station because we felt that we could get the best shot there. We were going to start filming our establishing shot, but it was extremely windy that day so both the camera work and sound were not the best. All you could hear was the sound of wind crashing against the phone, so we decided to save this for our next filming day. What remains is refilming Jacob's interrogation scene, the group argument, a scene with the cop car (we are still narrowing down the date), the mug shot scene, and our establishing shot. These will all be filmed at later times.
