5 Camera Shots and Angles :)

#1 Over-the-shoulder shot: https://youtu.be/iCk6AUkqu-w

An over-the-shoulder shot is a shot where a camera is placed behind an actor or actress so that only their shoulder is in the frame while still being able to view the other person. The purpose of this shot is to show the relationship between the two characters through their conversation. This suggests a connection and a level of intimacy between them. When viewing a shot like this the audience is truly able to feel as though they are a part of this conversation. This shot was actually the first one that came to mind when I was told about this assignment. I always love seeing this shot in movies and TV shows because it makes me feel like I am a part of the conversation, so that's why I wanted to pick it. Filming this shot was a lot of fun. So I knew I wanted Kayla and I to fake either an argument or a conversation. Kayla and I were trying to talk and decide what to do in the video, when without realizing it Jacob, the person filming, recorded it without us knowing. So, what's funny about this shot, is that it is a real conversation between Kayla and I.

#2 POV shot: https://youtu.be/iarc6KsnHqM

A POV shot is a shot in which we as the audience see what the character views from a first-person point of view. The camera acts as the eyes of the character. I feel like this shot is extremely recognizable when seen so I wanted to attempt it. When filming outside, I thought what better way to do a POV shot than to film me walking down a flight of stairs. Actually filming this shot was extremely nerve-wracking because the entire time I was scared that I was going to fall down the stairs. It did not help that I had to refilm it a few times too, but overall I really like how it turned out.

#3 Close- up shot: https://youtu.be/5bjY8xSV6K0

A close-up shot is a shot taken of something or someone at close range. It is used to show great detail. The objective of a close-up is to show emotions, reactions, and help the viewer understand how a character is feeling by their expression, but in this shot specifically, my goal was to show details on the object. The object being the necklace I was putting on. The reason I chose to film this shot is that I thought that it would be an interesting way to show something in detail. Filming this shot was more difficult than it looks because I had to put the necklace on from the front. This is something I am not used to doing by the way, but after a few attempts, I got the shot.

#4 Extreme close-up shot: https://youtu.be/A60rhLtq9Tw

An extreme close-up shot is a shot taken at an extremely close angle. Usually, it will focus on one feature of the subject, but you can also find this shot depicting a trigger of a gun about to fire or a hand about to detonate a bomb. In this shot, I decided to focus on a feature, which was an eye. The purpose of this shot is to show something in great detail and to show intense, emotional detail. After having so much fun filming the close-up shot, I thought that I should try to do it again with an extreme close-up shot. My idea was to film Tyler looking confused while focusing on his eye for that extreme emotional aspect.

#5 Mid -shot: https://youtu.be/OgI_tOVeUBQ

A mid-shot is a shot that depicts a character from their waist to their head. You may see this shot used for dialogue, but for this one, I decided to focus on my subject performing an action. The purpose of this shot is to see the subject's movements and gestures. It also allows for viewers to partially see the background as well. The body language used in this shot allows viewers to understand the emotions of the subject. My plan for this shot was to have my subject walk towards me. My intent was for my audience to pick up on the lightheartedness by the use of my subjects' facial expressions.
