Peer Comparisons

Welcome to my third blog post! Today I am going to actually comment on my peers' camera shots from our last post.

#1. Kayla Jencic's camera shots:

I think that Kayla did an excellent job filming her camera shots. Each shot was entertaining and super creative. My two favorite shots were the canted shot and the extreme close-up. The canted shot was of me walking through a door looking confused while Kayla filmed. I may be biased, but I feel as though this shot evoked the confused and uneasy feeling that it was meant to. The extreme close-up was another one of my favorites. When I filmed my extreme close-up, I was looking to show emotion using a single feature, but Kayla went down a different path and chose to show detail. I think this shot had the perfect use of detail and color to create an extreme close-up. My shots were somewhat different from Kayla's, but we both did a POV shot and a close-up shot. I feel as though Kayla did an excellent job portraying emotions and relationships through her shots.

#2 Desiree Haghgoo's camera shots:

Similar to Kayla, Desiree did a great job creating these camera shots. I was able to accurately describe which angle and shot it was by her shots alone, there was no description needed. My favorites were the POV shot and over-the-shoulder shot. Desiree wanted to portray the perspective of a small nasty creature being looked down upon by people. This shot was very well done, the emotions and expressions truly helped exemplify what is going on in the shot. The over-the-shoulder shot was also very well done, I truly felt a part of their conversation when viewing it. Desiree and I both did over-the-shoulder and POV shots. Our POV shots differed, mine was of someone (me) walking down the stairs, while the camera of Desiree's shot was the eyes of the creature. Overall, all of Desiree's shots were filmed and constructed very well.
