Mood Board for Final Project
Hi
guys, so for this blog post I created a mood board so you can get a visual
representation of what we want our final project to look like. Throughout my
mood board, I incorporated multiple characters, props, locations, and other elements
that really help create our story. Using my mood boards, I am trying to convey
a sense of mystery and suspense. We are dealing with a murder, and we do not
know who committed it, it could be the person standing next to you, I think that’s
pretty suspenseful. I also wanted to convey a sense of darkness, which I achieved
by using pictures with a dark hue. I think the darker aesthetic of my mood board
went well with the type of movie this would be. If someone is murdered, I wouldn’t
want to have a bright colorful mood board right? I chose this mood/ feeling for
my genre because I feel like it represents it well. As stated before, most mystery movies are
very dark and suspenseful and I attempted to capture those aspects through my
mood board.
In
my mood board I included multiple aspects of a movie such as the main characters,
setting, costume, lighting, and props:
Characters:
For our movie, our main characters would be a group of stereotypical
high schoolers. For example, we would have the nerd and the jock which I represented
by the close-up of their outfits. I also included a group photo of four teens
to foreshadow that they might need to work together despite maybe not knowing each
other.
Setting:
For
the setting, I included a school to represent that this would take place in a school and the main characters are students. I also included multiple scenes with
caution tape to further establish the crime theme. I included scenes of a room
with a bunch of papers and photos on the walls to express the fact that they don’t
know who did it and they have to find out along the way.
Costume:
The
costumes of the characters would be based on their stereotypes. For example,
the jock would wear a letterman jacket, which I showed near the middle left and
the nerd would wear a duller outfit and hold a book, seen near the middle right
side. The group pictures serve as a reminder that they are all teens and will
be dressed in what teens normally wear.
Lighting:
For
lighting, we are going to utilize low-key lighting to create drama and help
build suspense. So, I used pictures that had a sort of darker lighting to them.
Props:
Through
the mood board, I included multiple props that may be important to the storyline
and represent the mystery genre. For example, I included handcuffs to symbolize
that someone is going to get arrested. I also included a newspaper article that
says “MURDER” on it to further establish the plot of the storyline. Some more
props I included were the markers on the floor that crime scene investigators use
as well as crime scene tape to appeal to the genre.
