Color Use

Color was a very important part of our production. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to use color theory and have our characters wear a certain color that pertains to their personalities. We also wanted to do the same with our location as well. We thought this was a perfect way to give a hidden meaning of who the characters are.

Location:

The majority of the scenes are supposed to take place in the police department. To showcase that we wanted to choose a location with a very dull color scene. The library we used had a room that was dull blue and beige. We found that since there weren't any bright colors or anything, it conveys that suspenseful, boring atmosphere.

Characters:

Jacob's character is a hothead, short-tempered jock. He does not like when anyone tells him different than what he believes is true. With that being said, his character is seen wearing a red jacket because the color red symbolizes passion. We wanted to include this small detail to give the audience an insight into his personality.

Kayla's character is a rich, self-centered rich girl. She thinks that by interrogating her, the investigators are wasting their time. Her father is a man of power and she uses that to her advantage to get what she wants. Because of all of this, she is seen wearing a purple vest and a black skirt. Purpose symbolizes wealth and regality and black symbolizes power which is exactly why her wardrobe comprises those colors.

Tyler is a smart, nervous nerd. Simon doesn't even know what a conviction like this could do to his future so he is fearful of his future. To symbolize him we had him wear a blue polo shirt. Blue symbolizes wisdom and intuition, which fits him very well.

My character is a determined, artistic girl. She is very ambitious and calm at most times, but she often gets very emotional and is not good with confrontation. She can get shy at times. She wears light green to symbolize her creativity and imagination. Green is also connected to sensitivity.

The cop and detective both wear black. Despite not having major parts in our movie opening, black symbolizes power. Black can also be a very mysterious color which works well with the overall mystery in the film.
