Editing Post #2
For our second editing session for our movie opening, we are working on editing the narrator's voice. Jacob is the narrator of our movie. The narrator will be introducing our characters before their interrogation. To get a better idea of what the narrator says, I would check the script a few blog posts back. We wanted to pay close attention to how we edited this footage because it plays a very important part in our move, this introduced our characters and connects the establishing and interrogation scenes. This portion is also very important because it allows us to know who our characters are through the eyes of another character. For this session, Kayla did the editing on her computer while Jacob, Tyler, and I helped her through FaceTime. Kayla took around an hour and 45 minutes editing Jacob's voice for the narrator. As you can see in the pictures below, she is analyzing the non-diegetic audio of the narrator to put it over the establishing shot. Kayla had to work with multiple clips of the narrative in hopes that once we finish all the physical filming we can overlap them. With the raw audio footage we had to make it louder in some sections, shorter in others, and dissolve the clips into one another to ensure it all sounded correct. As for additional filming, we will be refilming Jacob's interrogation and filming the mugshot scenes. We are going to continue working on the narrative to edit them over the character scenes when we are ready. I think this second editing session went a lot more smoothly as we get more comfortable with the software and the editing process. Hopefully, once we finish filming our additional scenes we can start working towards combining everything to create our final process.
